ABOUT
A life long passion for wine
Growing up in South Africa Phil studied agriculture at Stellenbosch University. After managing a fruit farm near Stellenbosch Phil migrated to Australia where he ended up in the IT industry. Years of IT did little to dampen Phil’s passion for owning his own vineyard. Coming to Australia and tasting the different wines Phil found that he always enjoyed the wines from the Heathcote region. In 2015 Phil found a vineyard for sale in the Heathcote region. The vineyard needed a fair bit of attention, but he could see the potential in the site.

ABOUT
Rogues Lane Vineyard
Rogues Lane is a small family owned vineyard in the Heathcote region. The vineyard comprises of 7 acres made up of 95% Shiraz and 5% Malbec. The vines were planted in 1995 and are pruned to limit yields to under 2 tons per acre.
After three seasons of work the vineyard finally produced a crop. An enormous amount of work has been done to the vineyard in the years since 2015 and there is still work to be done. This has not all been the work of one person. Over the years family and friends have been exceptionally generous of their time and labour to complete the multitude of tasks required to produce the quality grapes that are grown on Rogues Lane.
HEATHCOTE
Region
The Continental Climate and the ancient soils in the Heathcote region provide perfect conditions for growing quality grapes, especially Shiraz. The long warm days with cool nights provide a perfect climate for growing wines with unique character.
Heathcote wines are defined by their inky depth of colour, and deep, dark, complex fruit. Voluptuous and well balanced, acid and tannin meld together in a way that does not dominate the fruit, but gives the wine great cellaring ability.
